Studies have shown that while educational attainment is important in predicting intelligence in later life, intelligence at 53 is more closely correlated to intelligence at 8 years old than to educational attainment. The internationalization of education is sometimes equated by critics with the westernization of education. These critics say that the internationalization of education leads to the erosion of local education systems and indigenous values and norms, which are replaced with Western systems and cultural and ideological values and orientation.

It requires shared goals, and national policies that put learning at the centre. It also requires data collection and regular monitoring to help policymakers identify what’s working, who’s benefiting, and who’s being left behind. Like all children, children with disabilities have ambitions and dreams for their futures. Like all children, they need quality education to develop their skills and realize their full potential. Yet, children with disabilities are often overlooked in policymaking, limiting their access to education and learning. Equitable access to learning opportunities and improved skills development in primary education – including foundational, digital and transferable skills – is key to ensuring that every child is prepared for life, work and active citizenship.

IIE and ETS announce a new business collaboration through which IIE will be the Country Master Distributor of the TOEFL ITP® tests in the United States. IIE and ETS have a long history of collaborating to promote the value of English language learning and assessment, enabling students to take advantage of educational opportunities, and institutions to place students and monitor learning impacts in their programs. Beginning November 1, 2021, IIE will support to ETS to process orders for TOEFL ITP tests in the U.S.

Article 13 of the United Nations’ 1966 International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights recognizes a universal right to education.

Educational psychology both draws from and contributes to cognitive science and the learning sciences.
